Indication & Usage
used to treat insomnia. With this condition, you can have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both.

Dosage & Administration
Initial dose: 1 mg orally once a day immediately before bedtime
Maintenance dose: 1 to 3 mg orally once a day immediately before bedtime
Maximum dose: 3 mg/day

Serious side effects
Extreme sleepiness during the day, Doing an activity while you’re not fully awake (you may not remember doing these activities), Abnormal thoughts and behavior, Memory loss
Safety Advice
For all: Don’t take a dose that’s higher than what your doctor prescribed. Higher doses increase your risk of extreme drowsiness.
For people with severe liver problems: Your total dosage shouldn’t be more than 2 mg once per day, taken right before bedtime.

Drug Interactions
Alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids → increased CNS depression
CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) → ↑ eszopiclone levels
CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin) → ↓ effectiveness
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: Not recommended; use only if benefit outweighs risk
Lactation: Excretion in breast milk unknown; avoid or use with caution
